ABOUT FELDSTONE

Financial Literacy That Respects Your Experience

Feldstone was established in Kuala Lumpur to provide structured, unbiased financial education to Malaysian adults who are ready to engage with the documents and systems that shape their lives.

How Feldstone Came to Be

Feldstone grew from a straightforward observation: many Malaysians who had spent their working lives paying taxes, contributing to EPF, and holding shares in listed companies found the underlying systems genuinely difficult to follow. Not because they lacked the ability, but because the resources available were either written for specialists or aimed at those just entering the workforce.

The founders — a group of educators and retired financial practitioners based in Kuala Lumpur — began writing materials in 2019 that addressed this gap. The aim was not to offer investment tips or tax-planning strategies, but something more modest and, in their view, more valuable: a careful explanation of how the system works and what the documents you receive actually mean.

Feldstone opened its first courses in early 2021, initially by invitation to a small group of participants in the Klang Valley. The response confirmed that there was a readership — a community of adults who wanted to sit with complex documents and come away understanding them, without having to rely entirely on a third party's summary.

What We Are Here to Do

To Explain, Not to Persuade

Every course at Feldstone is written to inform. We do not advocate for particular financial decisions, investment approaches, or political views on tax policy. We explain what exists and how it operates.

To Serve the 40+ Reader

Our courses are written with a specific reader in mind: someone who has had decades of experience as a taxpayer, saver, and investor, and who now wants to deepen their understanding of systems they have been part of for a long time.

To Take the Long View

Financial literacy at mid-life is not about quick adjustments. It is about reading more carefully, asking better questions, and feeling less dependent on others to interpret your own financial life.

How We Work and What We Stand Behind

Editorial Independence

Course content is written and reviewed entirely in-house. Feldstone does not accept sponsorship from financial product providers, brokers, or tax advisory firms.

Annual Content Review

Tax rates, EPF contribution levels, and listed-company reporting requirements change from year to year. Every module is reviewed and updated annually to reflect the current state of Malaysian regulations.

Data Privacy

Participant data is held in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We do not sell or share participant information with third parties.

Accuracy Before Speed

When regulatory changes occur mid-year, we add accurate addenda to affected modules promptly rather than rushing a full rewrite. Participants are notified of all substantive updates.

Plain Language Commitment

All course material is reviewed against a plain-language checklist before publication. Where technical vocabulary cannot be avoided, it is defined in context and added to the course glossary.

Non-Advisory Positioning

Feldstone is registered as an education provider, not a licensed financial adviser. Every course makes clear that the material is informational and does not constitute advice on individual financial decisions.

Feldstone's Place in Malaysian Financial Education

The Malaysian financial landscape presents distinctive challenges for adults approaching or passing the mid-point of their working lives. The interaction between EPF, voluntary savings instruments like PRS, and the various personal tax reliefs available under LHDN rules is genuinely complex — not because the system is poorly designed, but because it has developed over many decades and assumes a level of background familiarity that many individuals have not had occasion to develop.

Feldstone's courses address this by working through each component methodically. Rather than offering a surface-level summary, each module takes the time to explain the rationale behind a regulation, the documentation it generates, and the ways in which it connects to other parts of the system. Participants come away with a working understanding rather than a list of facts to memorise.

The company disclosures course, in particular, addresses a gap that has become more visible as retail share ownership in Malaysia has grown. Many Malaysians hold stakes in listed companies through EPF, direct purchases, or unit trusts — yet the annual reports and quarterly results that those companies publish remain largely unread. Feldstone's approach is to treat these documents as genuine reading material: to show what each section is trying to communicate and what a careful reader should be looking for.

Feldstone operates from a modest office on Jalan Sultan Ismail in Kuala Lumpur and does not maintain overseas offices or branches. The team works in English and the materials are written in English, though supporting glossaries acknowledge terminology as it appears in Bahasa Malaysia legislation and EPF communications.
